When the new homeowner moved into this Needham, MA home, she wanted the interiors to feel unmistakably her own. A true lover of color, pattern and unexpected details, she was ready to move beyond the existing neutral palette and create spaces that felt joyful, distinctive and full of character.

DFI Interiors reimagined several key areas of the home, including the complete renovation of two bathrooms, a playful and functional children’s playroom, and custom furniture and built-ins for the living room. Color became a connecting thread throughout the project, layered with expressive patterns, tactile materials, whimsical details and carefully considered finishes.

The two bathrooms were completely transformed with new tile, vanities, fixtures, lighting and material palettes, each developing its own identity while remaining connected to the broader design of the home. In the children’s playroom, practical family living meets imaginative design, creating a space that is functional and durable without sacrificing creativity or visual interest.

In the living room, custom-designed furniture and built-ins allowed us to create solutions specifically for the architecture and the way the family lives. Rather than limiting the design to what could be found ready-made, these tailored elements brought greater function, individuality and intention to the space.

The result is a colorful, layered home that feels polished without taking itself too seriously. Playful details and unexpected combinations give the interiors their distinctive character, demonstrating that sophisticated design can also be joyful, expressive and wonderfully personal.
